Being A Father#

My son Duncan is over one years old now. My love for him is indescribable. My wife Esther and I have been spending a lot of time caring for him and getting to know him. He is a blessing from God. We have a daughter due later this year. We can’t wait to meet her!

Working on Vault CMS#

I’ve been focused on creating a workflow to make Obsidian a content management system for Astro websites, realized in projects like Astro Modular. I want to update my writeup of it soon.

Making Related Obsidian Plugins#

Currently blowing up GitHub with new plugins for Obsidian. Along with the Vault CMS plugin, here’s the list I have so far:

I also recently published my first Obsidian theme, Oxygen (which was recently approved as a community plugin) and its accompanying plugin Oxygen Theme Settings. It’s a fork of the popular Minimal theme created by Obsidian’s CEO, Steph Ango.

I’ve also created Sample Plugin Plus and Sample Theme Plus which are forks of their respective Obsidian templates, but with built-in linting and improved AI development assistant features.

I’m using a combination of Cursor, DeepWiki, and Grok to create these. I’m absolutely loving it.

Employing Daily Practices#

I’m utilizing Obsidian to write daily notes to document / chronical life happenings, including family milestones, quick wins, and whatever else is on my mind. Each also has daily items to check off, including:

• Make book reading progress
• Tell my wife I love her
• Finish at least one bottle of water
• Walk for 15 minutes
• Do wrist stretches

So far they’ve really helped me stay on task!

Trying to Read More Often#

I was working through The Transparent Society by David Brin, but didn’t make much progress, however I did finish the Bible at the end of last year, completing my two-year Bible reading plan!

This year I started Atomic Habits by James Clear, and loving it so far. I’m also being more careful about taking notes on what I read so I retain it better.

Making YouTube Videos#

I am somewhat regularly uploading on my main YouTube channel - mostly known for videos related to the Super Smash Bros. series of games, but I’m trying to broaden out from that. I also have a Bonus channel where I upload more casual content.

Getting Involved In Church#

My wife Esther and I have made deliberate choices to be more involved in our local church, so we’ve been doing that. She attends bible studies and a mother’s encouragement group, and we both attend regular morning service. I am part of the evangelism committee and also the father’s group as well.
