This is a /now page. In contrast to an about page, which tells you the background of a person, the point of a “now” page is to tell you “what this person is focused on at this point in their life” as described by Derek Sivers.

Fatherhood

My son Duncan is over one years old now. My love for him is indescribable. My wife Esther and I have been spending a lot of time caring for him and getting to know him. He is a blessing from God. We have a daughter due later this year. We can’t wait to meet her!

Making Stuff for Obsidian

Obsidian, the note-taking app, has become a favorite tool of mine recently. I’m using it to write daily notes, track my habits, and save all kinds of information for reference later.

I’ve been focused on creating a workflow to make Obsidian a content management system for Astro websites called Vault CMS, realized in projects like Astro Modular.

I’m making things for Obsidan beyond Vault CMS, too. You can out the full list of the Obsidian plugins and themes I’ve made.

Daily Practices

I’m utilizing Obsidian to write daily notes to document / chronical life happenings, including family milestones, quick wins, and whatever else is on my mind. Each also has daily items to check off, including:

  • Make book reading progress
  • Family worship (read, pray, and sing together)
  • Tell my wife I love her
  • Finish at least one bottle of water
  • Walk for 15 minutes
  • Do wrist stretches

So far they’ve really helped me stay on task!

Reading

Last year I finished the Bible, completing my two-year Bible reading plan!

This year I started Atomic Habits by James Clear, and loving it so far. I’m also being more careful about taking notes on what I read so I retain it better.

Making YouTube Videos

I am somewhat regularly uploading on my main YouTube channel - mostly known for videos related to the Super Smash Bros. series of games, but I’m trying to broaden out from that. I also have a Bonus channel where I upload more casual content.

Getting Involved In Church

My wife Esther and I have made deliberate choices to be more involved in our local church, so we’ve been doing that.
